The LOBBYIST uses a single 7.2V 1500mAh NiCd battery to power the thrust motors, and two NiCd batteries to power everything else. A DPST power switch can cut off power to both circuits simultaneously.
Lift Fan Circuit
The Tiva microcontroller switches the Delta lift fan on and off through an IRLZ34N n-channel power MOSFET, which can handle the ~3A current through the lift fan. Two power diodes restrict the voltage across the lift fan to a safe level.
XBEE Circuit
The XBEE RF radio module is powered from the Tiva microcontroller's built-in 3.3V output. The XBEE communicates with the Tiva through UART.
Motor Driver Circuits
The port and starboard propellers are driven by geared brushed DC motors, controlled with the Tiva hardware PWM functionality through TLE5206 H-bridge motor drivers.
Credentials Circuit
A voltage divider connected to a Tiva analog input provides the LOBBYIST with the ability to identify the value of a provided Credentials resistor (1, 2, 3, or 4 kΩ), thereby allowing the LOBBYIST to determine its own number (1-4).
DMC Circuit
PIC12F752 received instructions from the main processor (TIVA) of the hovercraft through RA3. Based on the instruction, PIC12F752 controlled servo angle using PWM through RA2, and turned on either red or blue LED through RA4 or RA5.
